There are differences between US, European and other EDC gear selections, especially the lack of guns and larger knives outside of the US, where these are commonly included, but a common trend is to see EDC gear that is dominated by long-standing brands. Many people include pens, watches and car keys in their EDC lists, along with diaries, eyeglasses and notebooks. You also see quite a variety depending on what the poster does for work, or what they intend to be doing that way. Office EDC gear is quite different to backwoods EDC gear! From the comments it seems like there are two main reasons for this. The reasons that people give imply that their priorities are reliability and quality.
