Standard EDC ratchet wrenches have coarse knurled gears that are hard on the fingers, especially if you are doing repetitive finger tightening or loosening of fasteners. During our continuous improvement programme for our EDC gear we designed the new Mk2 711L EDC ratchet wrench to have a softer profile for the geared head. This makes removing and installing fasteners faster and easier on the fingers.
The 711L Mk 2 EDC ratchet wrench makes it easy to spin fasteners
When you are dismantling or assembling a PC case, drone, RC vehicle or any sort of flat-pack furniture, there are a multitude of fasteners that you need to deal with. After initial loosening of fasteners or when you are spinning them in before torquing them up, it’s a great help to be able to start them by hand securely – especially small fasteners, which are difficult to grip and keep oriented using only your fingers.
Why is hand spinning of fasteners an important feature for EDC ratchet wrenches?
The most secure way to keep track of your fasteners, keep them properly lined up, and get them inserted and tightened, or remove them when they have been freed, is to have them reliably slotted into your EDC ratchet and be able to spin them out by hand. It’s easy to lose fasteners when you start them by hand, especially the sizes of fasteners that are commonly found in EDC projects.
When you use the 711L Mk2 EDC ratchet wrench to drive your fasteners, it gives you a great combination of secure, smooth ratcheting, fast and comfortable manual spinning of fasteners, and best in class 30Nm torque for secure tightening or loosening of nuts, bolts and screws. With our Mk2 revision you get a truly great EDC ratchet wrench that is easy on the fingers and looks great as well!

Improved compatibility with your other EDC gear
Our new Mk2 EDC ratchet wrench isn’t just about having a soft-edged revised knurled gear, but also improved compatibility with your EDC loadout. The Mk2 retains the robust 30Nm torque rating of its predecessor and adds through-mounting functional compatibility with Klein tools and, of course, the 711L T-Bar extension. We fit this functionality into the compact 60mm length, 15mm width format that you expect from 711L tools.

When comparing with other EDC ratchet wrenches, which are usually limited to 25Nm or less of torque, you should consider how this restricts your options for metric and imperial (US) fastener sizes. The Mk2 711L EDC ratchet wrench is a great addition to your 711L EDC gear collection, and works seamlessly alongside our 711L Y-driver, inline ratchet driver, and Lollipop EDC Bit Drivers. Find the full range of 711L ratchet wrenches on our Amazon store!
