The 711L TG EDC ratchet wrench has become one of our best selling tools in the year since it was launched. Let’s have a look at the reasons for its outstanding popularity and see why it has enduring appeal for fans of the best in EDC gear.
Let’s look at the quality & features of the 711L EDC TG Ratchet Wrench
When we designed the TG EDC ratchet wrench, we looked at what was on the market and considered how to engineer an EDC ratchet wrench that was a step change beyond what was available. An obvious starting point was to improve the physical quality of the material design, and that is why we don’t use standard stainless steels in our ratchet wrench construction.
- High quality stainless steel alloy construction
- Durable & corrosion resistant body
- Fine toothed high tensile steel ratchet
- Universal 1/4” EDC double & single ended hex bit compatibility
- 30Nm (22 ft-lbs) torque rating for secure fastening
- Designed compatibility for 1/4” flip sockets by Klein (Imperial) & VACO (Metric)
- Fingertip fastening with geared ratchet wheel
- 2” highly portable form factor
- Professional, engineered design, fabrication & finishing
High grade stainless steel alloys for corrosion resistance & durability
All 711L EDC ratchet wrenches are made from higher grade stainless steel alloys than our competitors. With very high quality stainless alloys, comes very high corrosion resistance and durability. The TG EDC ratchet wrench is built to last, because our bottom-up design makes it more durable by design than other EDC ratchet wrenches.
Fine toothed ratchet gears for smoother ratchet engagement in confined spaces
The next thing we looked at was how to solve a problem that significantly impacts the EDC user experience. When working on small-scale projects, especially in confined spaces, the large ratchet teeth of conventional wrenches require enough free space for a wide turning arc before they engage to the next ‘click’ – this is a real problem for people working on intricate projects, like drones and model vehicles, and is also a limitation when you’re trying to get to bike fasteners that are right next to frame components.

The solution was our ultra-fine tooth ratchet design. Most manufacturers have coarse ratchets because they don’t want to pay for the higher grades of tensile steel that are needed to make a strong, fine-tooth ratchet. This was never a consideration for 711L, because we focus on better, stronger tools, and improved user experience.
EDC ratchet wrenches need to be compatible with your EDC bits
People in the EDC community are always concerned about compatibility of EDC ratchet wrenches and tools with their existing collection of favorite EDC bits. None of us want to carry more bits than we need to, but we need to have the bits that give us the most utility for our standard projects. This means we end up with a collection of standard bits, short bits, long bits, flat bits for Leatherman, and double-ended bits in our EDC gear pouch.
The ideal EDC ratchet wrench has to be compatible with all of these, and that’s why the 711L EDC TG ratchet wrench accepts almost every type and size of EDC bit that you can find. The TG EDC mini ratchet wrench has a 15mm deep socket that accepts double-ended bits as well as 711L 50mm EDC bits, flat bits for Leatherman and standard EDC bits.
The 711L TG EDC ratchet wrench delivers 30Nm of torque
Standard EDC ratchet wrenches are limited to 25Nm torque, which is useful for light duties, but can let you down when you need just a bit more torque for working on ⅜” imperial bolts, and metric M6 and M8 bolts, which all benefit from a bit more headroom. Alongside our higher quality material engineering, we improved the torque capability of the TG EDC ratchet wrench to a significantly higher 30Nm, opening up the utility of this 711L EDC designed EDC ratchet wrench.
